Vitamins for the finances

Not only environmentally-friendly but also financially attractive

In order to keep to the climate change policies the German Federal Government has decided to increase the share of renewable energy of the total energy consumption to at least 10% by the year 2020. In the electricity sector the share of renewable energy in the total consumption of electricity is to rise to at least 20% in the year 2020. For this purpose various grant programmes have been published.

The most important promotion programme is without question the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) that regulates the supply and remuneration of energy generated by solar power. With this law Germany has shown itself to be an ecological pioneer and establish a law for the furtherance of renewable energy, which has often been copied world-wide. We profit from this. You naturally too. After all very new forms of use for our roofs are possible with renewable energy, which when seen from an economic standpoint has until now at the best been registered as renovations in the books. The Renewable Energy Regulations (EEG) state the following:
the EEG obligates the grid operators to connect the units, which produce renewable energy, to accept the current produced and to reimburse this at set rates.

Operators of solar energy units, who were connected to the grid in 2009, receive remuneration for 20 years at the following rates:

  • * For roof installations of capacity:
    1. up to 30 kW - 43,01 Cents/kW
    2. between 30 kW and 100 kW - 40,91 Cents/kW
    3. over 100 kW - 39,58 Cents/kW
    4. over 1 Megawatt the remuneration amounts to 33,00 Cents/kW
  • * For ground installations taken into operation in 2009 - 31,94 Cents/kW

To download the EEG laws you will find under: EEG Laws 2004 and EEG Law Amendments 2008.

A further government-aided support measure is the credits available from the Kreditanstalt für Wiedraufbau (KfW Development Bank). The KfW offers private individuals, companies and institutions favourable loan rates, which can be applied for through the local banks. The conditions for the loans you will find under: KfW-programme ‘Produce solar energy' and KfW-Environment-Programme.
Likewise there are many banks that offer credits at preferential terms. Just ask us.
