Osnabrück: The Osnabrück photovoltaic supplier SUNOS Solarpower founded a new branch in Athens in December 2009. From the Greek capital the company wants to considerably expand its activities in the market. "The potentials are enormous and we are now very pleased to be able to implement our proven Full Service Concept", explained the SUNOS Managing Director Frank Hemme. The branch will be headed by Graduate Engineer Horst Bronowski who has lived and worked in Greece for many years.
"Solar power here has proved to be unbelievably abundant. In Osnabrück photovoltaic average kilowatt peak (kWp) system output reaches around 880 Kilowatt Hours (kWh) and is very profitable. In Greece the efficiency is around 1,450 kWh pro kWp and is therefore 65% higher than the Headquarters in Osnabrück", the Managing Director has calculated.
Good general conditions do not only exist because of the special power of the Mediterranean sun and the large number of roofs of suitable area. The state aid programme is very lucrative for operators of photovoltaic systems. They receive 55 cents pro kWh for electricity fed into the grid for units of up to a capacity of 16 kWp during the next 25 years. Private house owners with photovoltaic units of between 11 and 20 kWh can plan on an income of 45 cents pro kW for the next 20 years.
SUNOS was briefed in detail by the German-Greek Chamber of Commerce on the establishment of the Athens branch. The signs are clear: with these investments SUNOS together with the producers of photovoltaic modules is doing important pioneer work.
"Much explanatory work has still to be done here as the environmental and climate protection here does not have the same priority as in Germany. Accordingly the sources of renewable energy such as solar technology have much to catch up on", confirms Frank Hemme. SUNOS has found in Horst Bronowski the right partner for this business concept particularly as he has had a photovoltaic unit for three years and appreciates the advantages gained from his own experience.
While the Head of the Branch will support interested parties with his advice and together with the customer ascertain their needs, SUNOS will give support with the planning and the processing of the projects.
