Corporate Social Responsibility characterises the company's ambitions to fulfil its responsibility to society and to the ecology. Photovoltaic companies naturally have the basic advantage that they produce products with which they deal or install which make an active contribution towards environmental protection. Of course even photovoltaic companies can do more. SUNOS wants to involve itself and concern itself with ecological and social issues. We are of the opinion that lasting success in the company must stand on a broad foundation. Operational efficiency and social commitment go hand in hand and contribute to long lasting business success.
SUNOS indulges in activities which along with the financial and staffing support of local and global associations and initiatives also touch on our own business activities. CSR cannot be limited to social sponsoring. He who does good must begin directly in his own trade sector.
With regard to our most important activities:

We support the Solar Energy Foundation:
Many of the poor and poorest countries are at the same time in the regions with the most sunshine in the world. In order to alleviate poorness this foundation, under the auspices of Dr Franz Alt, promotes the development of solar energy because energy is the key to education, health and development in these regions. Should you wish to learn more about this foundation please see www.stiftung-solarenergie.de.
We involve ourselves locally:
SUNOS cooperates with local regional sports clubs. Sports clubs are an important element of the social environment of the people especially to their own members. For this reason they present themselves as suitable partners when it comes to strengthening the public awareness of environmental protection. Here joint activities are planned which encompass, for example, the education of young sportsmen and women in matters of climate protection and renewable energy.
We support the people with active climate protection:
As well as that SUNOS plans together with other associations a so-called ‘people's power station', i.e. to mobilise support for the collectively operated photovoltaic units. The advantages of this type of cooperation are obvious. The associations can distinguish themselves as especially environmentally-friendly regional members and also have the chance to participate in a photovoltaic unit even if they do not have roof space of their own at their disposal. Collectively they provide a contribution to climate protection because for every kHz produced, which is not won from conventional sources, saves 0.52 kilos of carbon dioxide. To highlight this again with a 50 kWp-unit on the roof of a sports hall, for example, will mean a saving of 22,210 kilos of carbon dioxide a year. This represents the approximate equivalent emission of 10 middle-sized limousines with an annual mileage of 15,000 kilometres.

We give handicapped people a professional perspective:
SUNOS has parts of the assembly frame produced in the Osnabrück Workshop for handicapped people. On the one hand we make it possible for handicapped people to feel that they are an important part of the community. Work is what gives us the most self esteem. On the other hand we profit naturally from a substantial collection of know-how and an extensive vertical range of manufacture, which also embraces CNC-aided metalworking.
